OCEAN AND SPACE4 OUR PLANET
From 2022, it realizes this passion through different actions and broadens its contours: by organizing a tribute parade to the famous couturier at the Museum of Art and Space at Le Bourget, tying a long-term partnership with the European Space Agency (ESA), by experimenting with the creation of clothing from fabric scraps donated by Thales Alenia Space, supporting innovation the Prix Bulles, by creating ever more bridges between fashion and ways of living and exploring the world… Rodrigo Cardin multiplies the opportunities to feed on the space universe, certainly as a creative resource but also as an opportunity to engage concretely on real issues and the opportunities that can contribute to this sector in building the world of tomorrow.

The issue of social and environmental responsibility has become central for all actors who participate in building the fashion of the future. Anxious to find an avant-garde direction and which is specific to it, the Pierre Cardin Group has decided to focus its efforts and its investment in space and maritime innovation serving the protection of our planet. Ocean and space for our Planet is the vision, the direction chosen by Rodrigo Cardin which helps guide the Group in an ecological and continuous approach
The Prix Bulles Cardin recognizes innovation in space and ocean exploration technology with the goal of protecting our planet. This award attests to the commitment of Maison Pierre Cardin towards sustainability, focusing on the opportunities presented by the space and nautical sectors to build a better future. Led by Rodrigo Cardin, the Prix Bulles Cardin selects nine nominees each year, and awards three of these projects.
From « space-age » design to « Ocean and Space for our planet » vision

The Cardin house has always drawn its imagination from the space universe and has applied itself to build a mode without territorial borders. Space-Age is part of the house’s DNAPierre Cardin both in its aesthetic and “philosophical” dimension: in the 1960s, the maison is a pioneer in the exploitation of the space universe as a creative and honest terrain gradually futuristic elements inspired by the Cosmos in its creations and designs. Rodrigo Cardin, Chairman of the Group, is also passionate about the space universe (already a field of reference for the brand) and further affirm the house’s affiliation with the sector.

Echoes of the Deep
pierre cardin choose to support and encourage the research of Dr Ellen Garland.

Dr Ellen Garland’s new research has revealed whale song has human language-like structure. Humpback whales also have cultural revolutions through their song. These cultural waves spread across ocean basins as entire populations of whales will adopt novel songs introduced from a neighbouring population. The only other species in the whole animal kingdom that has these large and rapid cultural changes are humans. Like trailblazers in human fashion, humpback whale song trends spread across the globe.

This groundbreaking research is not possible without the painstaking collection of fundamental data at field sites in the South Pacific. This crowdfunding seeks to fund the collection, analysis and understanding of humpback whale song. From observing the behaviour of the whales in the field through to the development of human-assisted AI tools to speed up analysis back in the lab, this funding will allow Ellen and her team to investigate the exciting but fundamental question of: why do whales sing?
